The Governor's Council on Fitness (GCOF) is recruiting at least one Physical Activity Champion from each Kansas county. These Physical Activity Champions serve as advocates for a more active, healthy life and are empowered by the initiative to promote physical activity and its benefits to community groups, businesses, schools and churches.
Each community Champion brings a unique set of skills and experience to this initiative. Champions may promote benefits of a physically active life through communication, organizing, or by serving as a physical activity role model. Further, Champions may creates linkages with others in the community, with Champions from other Kansas counties, and with the GCOF to achieve the initiative's goal. By engaging existing coalitions and building new partnerships, Champions will bring together various groups and organizations to promote physical activity.
